AGE Outbreak Case Definition: 3 or more residents/staff from the same unit/wing with AGE symptoms* within 72 hours of each other
*Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever, chills
Steps to report:
- Fill out report form.
- Fill out appropriate line list.
- Email both report form and line list(s) to: bc.health.public.ltcf@browncountywi.gov (or fax to (920) 448-6449).
- In the subject line, include facility name with suspect outbreak type (AGE).
Items to review and follow:
- Wisconsin DHS Guidelines "Recommendations for Prevention and Control of Acute Gastroenteritis Outbreaks in Wisconsin Long-Term Cre Facilities"
- Follow facility/organizational guidelines for AGE outbreaks.
- Implement appropriate transmission-based precautions.
- Increase the frequency of routine cleaning, including bathrooms and frequently touched surfaces.
- Post signage indicating that the facility is experiencing an increase in AGE illness.
- Continue to submit line lists to Brown County Public Health via email for the duration of the outbreak and when the outbreak is over. Please complete ALL fields on the line lists.
Acute Respiratory Illness (ARI) Reporting
ARI Outbreak Case Definition (including COVID-19, influenza, and RSV): 3 or more residents/staff from the same unit/wing with 2 or more ARI symptoms* within 72 hours
*Fever >100°F or 2 degrees above baseline, cough, nasal congestion, myalgia, sore throat
Steps to report:
- Fill out report form.
- Fill out appropriate line lists.
- Email both report form and line list(s) to: bc.health.public.ltcf@browncountywi.gov (or fax to (920) 448-6449).
- In the subject line, include facility name with suspect outbreak type (ARI).
