Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that infects the nose, throat, and lungs. It is often difficult to tell the difference between RSV and the common cold because the symptoms are so similar. RSV can be dangerous for infants and older adults and require hospitlization. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends immunizations to protect infants, some young children, and older adults.
